Five questions for a short conversation

  1. What does someone new to this role usually get wrong?
  2. What small task could I take responsibility for this month?
  3. How would you know if I did that task well?
  4. What should I read, practise or observe first?
  5. Can I check in after I try it and tell you what happened?

A message you can adapt

Hello [name], I’m interested in helping with [club or project]. Could I speak with you for ten minutes after [school activity] about one task I could try? I can ask my parent or carer and follow the school’s arrangements. Thank you.
