OPEN PETITION TO INDONESIA PRESIDENT WIDODO

ACLW's petition "Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia: Spare the lives of Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan" which is at https://www.change.org/p/joko-widodo-president-of-the-republic-of-indonesia-spare-the-lives-of-myuran-sukumaran-and-andrew-chan?recruiter=13252611&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=share_email_responsive is now closed. It was conducted during the crucial time when their execution seemed imminent.

It is tragic that Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran were executed on 29 April 2015. Their death was cruel, unjust, senseless and an abuse of state power.

May they both rest in peace.

The Petition read:

Spare the lives of Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan

The soul of leadership is not black and white, rigid or disconnected. It is boundaryless, attentive, reflective, understanding and gives credence to all that which enables and uplifts the human condition, for its very existence is for humanity.  We are not all leaders, but we each have the capacity to listen, reflect and change ourselves. A leader who recognises that a person is doing their utmost to change and reach their potential becomes an essential part of that person’s life for they validate, affirm and empower their transformation. This can only be honourable. We respectfully ask you as the foremost leader of Indonesia to please spare the lives of Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan and recognise their genuine efforts to rehabilitate and make a positive difference to the lives of those around them.

Yours sincerely
